Michie was incorporated in 1961 and is home to around 680 people in the southern corner of McNairy County, right where Highway 22 runs down toward the Mississippi state line. It is a town where the fire department fundraiser is a social event and most people know whose truck is whose.
What brings outsiders through is history. Michie is the closest Tennessee town to Shiloh National Military Park, and the traffic on Highway 22 through town is partly the thousands of visitors a year heading for it.

The city is run by a mayor and council who meet publicly on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at City Hall. Residents are welcome at every meeting. See City Hall for hours and contact details.
